Dear THEi Students,
This is a reminder of the use of Moodle for the new AY2021-22. Thank you very much for your kind attention.
============================================
Moodle Access Problem for Students:
- Updated THEi Moodle Link: Please do not search “VTC Moodle” or “Moodle VTC” which is NOT the correct link. Search “THEi Moodle” or “Moodle THEi”; OR, Access to THEi website > QuickLinks > Moodle. The correct THEi Moodle for AY2021-2022 is [https://moodle2122.thei.edu.hk ]
- Moodle Mobile App: You need to update the Moodle mobile app to the correct link if you have installed the app earlier.
- Login: Students should login with their StudentID (or CNA), NOT the whole email address.
- Password: We use one password system where you change the password, all systems will be changed. Try to check and confirm the password with different systems, such as email or library e-databases.
- Moodle Module Participants: If you can login Moodle but could not find the Module you want, it is most probably you are not enrolled into the Moodle Module. Consult your instructor to check the participants list to add you back.
- Please go to Learning Commons (CW) or TY703A (TY) for any further queries.

Moodle Functions/Activities:
We would like to alert you of the below Moodle functions. Discuss with your instructors for a better learning experience.
- Calendar: Make good use of the Calendar to remind activities during the weeks. For a new Assignment activity, it will be added to the Calendar automatically. Instructors may also manually add to the Calendar. – Check with your instructors if they make good use of the Calendar to plan and to inform students.
- Assignment Moderation: The Learning & Teaching Committee has discussed that Programme Leaders should moderate the assignment submission due day so that students do not submit too many assignments in the same week/day. It is recommended that no more than two major assignments (30% or above) should be due by the same week. – Check with all the Modules that you enrol. At the beginning of the semester, make sure all the major assignments are added to the Calendar and the submission due days do not clash. Negotiate the due days if there are any problems.
- Completion of a Task: For each of the activity added, go to setup and add completion function to allow students to self-select the learning status. – Make sure the instructors have added this function. You should check the completion to the task in order to better record your learning progress.
- Moodle Report Tool: Click the Learner Dashboard on the navigation menu. Review usage activities visually by different graphs. Monitor your learning progress.

Best Practices:
- A Regular Upload Schedule: Try to let students know a fixed or regular time of the week for uploading teaching references. Students do not need to check every day for new updates. – Discuss with your instructors for a common understanding of the practice.
- An Easy to Understand File Name System: Use some meaningful wording to name a file, such as a date, a week, a lecture, an assignment, etc. Students do not need to download and read in order to know the content. Students can read from the name. – Discuss with your instructors for a common understanding of the practice.
- A Notification via Moodle Mobile App: Install the Moodle mobile app, you can then access Moodle via your mobile phone. Moreover, you will receive a notification for any new updates.
Thank you very much for your kind attention. Let us work together for a better learning experience.
