The Surveying programme is very pleased to share that three alumni of the programme, Miss CHEUNG Hau Yin Sherry, Mr. CHENG Ho Yin Eli and Mr. LIN Chak Kwan Ason, won the Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors (HKIS) Outstanding Dissertation Award 2021.

In Sherry’s graduation project, she studied and compared the Security of Payment Legislation (SOPL) in Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore. She also interviewed construction and legal experts in the field to explore amendments and recommendations for Hong Kong’s SOPL. She has won the Top Award in the Quantity Surveying discipline.

Eli studied cases where Building Information Modelling (BIM) and the Internet of Things (IoT) were used in Facilities Management (FM). He conducted in depth studies into the system architecture and the principles of integration of the self-developed, centralized BIM-FM platform used in a local revitalization project. He won the Top Award in the Property and Facility Management discipline.

For Ason’s graduation project work, he studied the impact of the Digital Works Supervision System (DWSS) on site performance and won the Second Award in the Quantity Surveying discipline. While the construction industry is conservative and reluctant to digitalize, Ason’s work provided evidence of the positive impact of digitalizing site processes and monitoring projects.
