Q1: Please briefly introduce yourself

A: I am currently an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Science and Technology, Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong (THEi).  Prior to joining in THEi, I received my Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from The University of Hong Kong and then worked as postdoctoral researcher at the School of Energy and Environment, City University of Hong Kong and School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Georgia Institute of Technology, USA.

Q2: What are your achievements in research?

A: So far, about HK$ 3.6 million research funding from external (RGC and ECF) and internal resources (THEi seed grant) have been obtained, over 18 seminars in international conferences have been delivered and more than 30 papers in peer-reviewed journals, such as Journal of Power Sources, Journal of Materials Chemistry A, Applied Energy and Bioresource Technology have been published.  Also, I am invited to be a reviewer for international journals, such as Energy & Environmental Science, Journal of Hazardous Materials, Chemical Engineering Journal.  Recently, I won the Researcher Award in THEi Staff Awards (AY 2019/2020) in recognition of the academic achievement in applied research.

Q3: How do you adopt your research findings into your teaching?

A: With the interdisciplinary research in environment and energy sciences, I applied the research findings in the teaching materials for Environmental Engineering and Management (EEM) undergraduates, particularly for Sustainable Energy Systems (SEV5371) and Introduction to Environmental Engineering (SEV4121).  I also developed various interesting final year project (FYP) topics for EEM undergraduates. Under my supervision, some FYP students can successfully publish review papers and research articles in prestigious journals.  One of the FYP students won Best Final Year Project Award 2018 1st Runner-up of awarding project (The HKIE Environmental Division 18/19).
